Biologic and immunological pregnancy tests require pregnancy at 95% accuracy at 6-15 weeks after the last menstrual period with 500-1500 IU per hour of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Most early gestational pregnancies, threatened and late abortions, and 50% of ectopic pregnancy and trophoblastic tumors 6 weeks prior to pregnancy are undetectable when the hCG level is below 500 milliauters per milliliter. Radioimmunoassay (RIA) can be measured at 6 international units per liter. Vaitukaitis and other β-subunit of hCG made serum for radioimmunoassay, to avoid hCG with the luteinizing hormone (LH) cross-reaction.
