On the contrary, the strength of the United States rose rapidly during the war, leaving Europe to have to be politically and economically dependent on it. From the postwar days to the late 1950s, this was the absolute period of Western Europe’s attachment to the United States. From the 1950s to the mid-1970s, both sides entered a period of control and anti-control. By the second half of the 1980s, especially the disintegration of the soviet revolution in Eastern Europe in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Europe and the United States even expanded the scope of their economic forces and the trade war continued to escalate. The birth of the euro at the end of the last century not only marked the rise of the EU’s power but also meant that the competition between the two parties entered a new period.
