合肥一中数学敎师吳之季,1951年在該校高中毕业,留校任职員。由于他讀中学时数学成績較好,1954年开始担任了初中数学的敎学。初敎节时,基础知識不足,又缺乏敎学經驗,曾遇到不少困难,在学校領导的鼓励和支持下,就同时开始了在职进修。由于刻苦钻研,勤奋不息,又得到学校中老教师的帮助,进步很快。1956年开始教高中数学,1955年担任学校数学敎研組的組长,至1959年又担任了合肥市各中学联合組織的数学敎研組組长。他坚持在职进修,七年来从未間断,取得了良好的成績。現在,已經系統地学习过初等数学和高等数学的基础課程,包括代数与初等函数、初等几何、解析几何、数学分析、高等代数等,能够基本上掌握这些基础知識;
