正像對其他一切科學工作一樣,自由討論和爭辯是推動氣象科學研究工作的巨大動力。兩年來的事實證明,我們的氣象工作上一些重要問題的初步解决,諸如我國一些天氣系統的分析、西風環流的處理等等並不是僅僅由一兩篇論文而得到解决,而是在經過廣泛的、多次的自由討論和爭辯之後,才逐漸明確,才肯定了過去死扣模式,不看具體温壓場及其演變過程是不對的,才肯定了單從西風急流看問題的片面性、局限性,而使我們無論在理論上或業務實踐上都提高了一步。
