Sweet-scented osmanthus is one of the most famous flowers and trees, with evergreen leaves, mid-autumn flowering, fragrant flowers, flowers for refining spices, edible, medicinal and so on, with high economic value. Sweet-scented osmanthus breeding all around the docking method based, batching breeding root, rarely used. Lying stock is commonly used with Ligustrum lucidum Ait., L.quihoui Garr., And Fraxinus bungeana DC., Such as Henan Province. However, with privet as the rootstock, north of the Yellow River can not be exposed to wintering and lobular white roots weak, slightly damaged will result in death. At the same time using the docking method must take the basin operation, tedious procedures, takes a long time, so Jinan Wang Zhuang nursery in the spring of 1962 with tassel tree (locally known as “beef tendon”) as the rootstock, cleavage approach Osmanthus breeding test . Flowery tree (Chionanthus retusus Lindl.et Paxt.) Is Oleaceae, Department of flowering shrubs. The tree native to Hebei, Henan, Shandong, Shaanxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and other places, sowing and breeding, its drought, cold resistance far exceeds the privet or lobular white and so on Strong growth potential. We use it as a rootstock in 1962 grafted osmanthus 20, 10 survived (survival rate of 50%). In 1963, 350 plants were grafted. Due to the grafting of new staff, unskilled technique and improper management, the survival rate was only about 30%. In 1964 and then received more than 3,000 strains,
