Is there any crisis in the world’s grain and is the current grain output available to people all over the world? Some people are pessimistic. The two consecutive years of world food production have contributed to this view. World food production dropped from 1,466 million tonnes in 1978 to 1,424 million tonnes in 1979 and again to 1,461 million tonnes in 1980, down from 50 million tonnes in the previous two years due to the relatively poor climate and other causes. As food production decreased, the stock of foodstuffs as a share of world food consumption also dropped repeatedly from 19% in 1978/1979 to 17% in 1979/80 and 14% in 1980/81.
