1876年,美国物理学家亨利·奥古斯特·罗兰(H.A.Rowland)在巴尔的摩所做的带电旋转圆盘的磁效应实验,通常称之为罗兰实验。罗兰实验不仅第一次用实验证明了运动电荷能够产生磁场,而且进一步揭示了磁现象的电本质。另外,1911年,俄国著名的物理学家约飞(A.F.Joffe)通过实验发现,阴极射线(即电子流)可以使附近的小磁针发生偏转,同样也证明了运动电荷能够产生磁场。在高中物理读本第三册(人民教育出版社,1993 In 1876, the magnetic effect experiment conducted by H.A. Rowland, an American physicist, on a charged rotating disk in Baltimore was commonly referred to as Roland’s experiment. The Roland experiment not only proved for the first time that kinetic charges can generate magnetic fields, but also further revealed the electrical nature of magnetic phenomena. In addition, in 1911, A.F.Joffe, a famous Russian physicist, discovered through experimentation that the cathode ray (ie electron flow) can deflect nearby small magnetic needles and also prove that the kinetic charge can generate a magnetic field.
