本刊自一九三四年九月,在上海创刊,到现在已有将近十五年的历史.十五年不算长,可也不算短.因为在反动的统治势力重重压迫下的中国,一本比较能够说些真话的杂志,很难望有较长的寿命.即就本刊的十五年来说,中间所遭受的苦难和压迫,也是一言难尽.当创刊之初几年,正值日寇步步进逼,人民抗敌情绪日趋高涨,而反动的南京政府还妄想对日寇百般献媚,藉以阻遏人民势力的抬头.当时本刊曾不断的大声疾呼,揭露日寇的阴谋诡计,力陈全民抗战的必要.那时候,由于全国抗日情绪的激昂,反动的南京政府虽还不敢肆无忌惮地摧残舆论,但心怀妥协的他们,当然视本刊为眼中之钉.种种挑剔,层出不穷.
