针对我国体育院校校名英译过程中不规范的现象,采用文献资料法、专家访谈法、数理统计法等研究方法,通过对我国体育院校和综合类大学体育院系英译名的统计以及北美、欧洲等国家高校中体育院系名称的统计与分析,得出:在国外高校中“Physical Education”属于与体育相关院系下的一门课程或一个部门,而在我国“Physical Education”则直接作为体育学院的英译名;国外大多数院校更加青睐于以“Health”和“Kinesiology”为关键词来命名与体育相关的院系。建议:我国专业体育院校和综合类高校体育院系英译名应规范化,专业体育院校应以Sports and Health University/Institute作为英译名,综合类高校体育院系应以College/Department/School of+Physical Education and Health作为英译名;“Physical Education”应为体育院系下的一门课程或一个学科分支。
Aiming at the non-standard phenomena in the process of English translation of PE colleges and universities in our country, this paper adopts the methods of literature review, expert interviews, mathematical statistics and other research methods. Based on the statistics of English translations of PE institutes and universities in China, North America, Europe and other countries in the National Institutes of Physical Education Department of Statistics and Analysis of the name, concluded: in foreign colleges and universities “Physical Education ” belongs to a course or a department with sports-related faculties, and in our country “Physical Education ”is directly used as the English translation of Physical Education Institute. Most foreign colleges and universities prefer to use“ Health ”and“ Kinesiology ”as the key words to name sports departments. It is suggested that the English translations of PE departments and colleges should be standardized in China’s major PE institutes and colleges and universities. Professional PE institutes should use Sports and Health University / Institute as their English translations. The PE institutes in general universities should adopt College / Department / School of + Physical Education and Health as English translation; “Physical Education” should be a course or branch of discipline under PE department.
