新近的《联合早报》官网刊发了郑永年的文章,就二十一世纪的政治秩序发表了看法。福山曾在《历史的终结》中指出,西方式自由民主是人类历史的最终政体形式。不过,在今天,非民主社会的民主化的确在摧毁着原来的各种政体,民主化也同样在摧毁着原来建立起来的民主秩序。民主可以摧毁原来的秩序,但很难建立起一个新的秩序。在二十一世纪的世界,我们注定要面临一场深刻的政治秩序危机。

Fukuyama once pointed out in “the end of history” that Western liberal democracy is the ultimate form of polity in human history. However, democratization of non-democratic societies is indeed devastating the original regimes and democratization is also devastating the democratic order originally established. Democracy can destroy the original order, but it is very difficult to establish a new order. In the twenty-first century, we are destined to face a profound crisis in political order.
