同一個中藥名稱在存世的西夏醫方和法典中的譯法往往不同,這意味着西夏不存在官修的規範藥典。目前還没有證據表明西夏政府曾經采取任何手段推動了本國醫療事業的發展。現存的大多數西夏文醫方抄本並非西夏本土的醫學著作,而只是黑水城某個寺院保存的民間零散醫方的雜抄。
The same Chinese medicine name in the survival of Xixia Medical and the translation of the law often different, which means that there is no official Xixia official pharmacopoeia. There is no evidence that the Western Xia administration has ever taken any measures to promote the development of its own medical undertaking. Most extant Xixia literati are not medical books written by Xixia natives, but only the miscellaneous copies of folk scattered medical records kept by a monastery in Blackwater City.
