社会主义文艺应该突出主旋律。主旋律是一个历史范畴，有时代特征，文艺工作者应该弘扬时代精神；主旋律又是一个美学范畴，有其审美特征，二者应紧密结合。人的精神世界是极其丰富的，因此，反映人的精神世界的文艺作品也应该是极其丰富的，必须坚持多样化。唯其为此，才能真正发展社会主义文艺事业，繁荣社会主义文艺创作。
Socialist literature and art should highlight the main theme. The theme is a historical category with the characteristics of the times. The literary and art workers should carry forward the spirit of the times. The theme is an aesthetic category and has its aesthetic characteristics. The two should be closely integrated. Human spiritual world is extremely rich. Therefore, literary and artistic works that reflect the human spiritual world should also be extremely rich. We must adhere to diversification. Only for this purpose can we truly develop the cause of socialist literature and art and prosper the creation of socialist literature and art.
