Objective: To investigate the effect of early insulin treatment on heart function and mortality after scald in rats. Methods: Sixty adult SD rats were randomly divided into control group (37 ℃ warm water treatment), scald group (95 ℃ hot water treatment) and insulin treatment group (subcutaneous injection of insulin 2.5 U / kg) = 20). The changes of blood glucose of rats in each group were observed 30 min, 1 h and 3 h after scalding. The function of the heart 3 h after scald was measured. At 8 h after scalding, the rats in each group were recorded Internal living conditions. Results: Compared with the control group, the blood glucose in burn group increased significantly (P <0.01) and the cardiac function decreased significantly (P <0.01). Early insulin treatment reduced blood glucose in scalded rats (P <0.01) and improved cardiac function in rats (P <0.05). The cumulative mortality rate was 40% within 8 h in scalded rats, but no death in insulin treated rats. Conclusion: After severe scald, early insulin treatment can improve the function of rat heart and improve the survival rate of rats.
