日本新闻界于19世纪70年代晚期开始频繁使用汉语中的“记者”一词指代新闻人,大约十余年后,上海《申报》以及其他报刊的报人通过译报以及与日本文化人的交流得知这一术语,并将之载于华报之端。在报刊以及其他社会力量的推动下,“记者”在20世纪之初成为了中国新闻人的代名词。
In the late 1870s, the Japanese press began to frequently use the term “journalist” in Chinese to refer to journalists.
