“就在天的那边,很远很远,有美丽的月牙泉。它是天的镜子,沙漠的眼,星星沐浴的乐园。那年我从月牙泉边走过,从此以后魂儿绕梦牵。”曾经的月牙泉的确如这首《月牙泉》唱的那般美丽。位于敦煌城南的月牙泉,与环绕的流沙之间仅隔数十米,千年来,它一直没有被掩没。于是,这一汪泉水便成为了西域大漠中的一个美丽传说。往东约10公里,便是千佛所居的莫高窟。莫高窟、鸣沙山、月牙泉,这是世人心目中的敦煌。作为古代丝绸之路的必经之所,这里把中亚、西亚、南亚、欧洲与东方的长安连结到一起。月牙泉就是敦煌的眼睛。敦煌多风,每年冬季至次年夏初都是风季。大风来时,沙飞石滚,鸣沙山上的流动沙丘如群魔乱走,一夜之间山型大变。但即便如此,上千年来,月牙泉这一湾泉水仍静处于沙山之间,未受丝毫影响。
