The Wistar male rats were used to study the effects of exercise on the protein metabolism in rats with three protein intake levels (7%, 17%, 27%), providing a laboratory basis for exploring suitable protein requirements for exercise and physical labor . The results showed that exercise could reduce the nitrogen balance. After exercise, the levels of serum urea nitrogen and amino acids were increased, and the content of nitrogen in the bowel was decreased. Rats with different levels of protein intake had different degrees of influence. There was no significant difference in body weight gain between 17% and 27% protein intake rats, all of which were better than 7% protein intake rats. After exercise, rats with 7% protein intake had a strong proteolytic action and no 27% protein intake was better than 17%. For acute high-intensity exercise, 17% protein intake may be appropriate.
