“天津日报·文艺周刊”创刊于1949年,在半个多世纪的办刊历史中,始终坚持党的“二为”方向和“双百”方针,保持和发扬现实主义的创作风格,不仅发表了大量优秀的文学作品,而且培养和扶植了众多的文学新人,其中有的已经走向中国文坛,成为载入新中国文学史册的文学大师和知名作家。我国著名作家郭小川、方纪、孙犁,都曾为这块文艺副刊倾注过心血,使其成为哺育、培养和扶植文学新人的摇篮与苗圃。茅盾、胡风等大家都曾为“文艺周刊”撰写过稿件。“文艺周刊”已经成为中国当代最享盛名的报纸副刊之一。 “天津日报·文艺周刊”在半个多世纪的进程中锻造出自己独特的品格,在当今林林总总的报纸副刊中形成了独特的风格。作为一块纯粹的文学副刊而非综合性文艺副刊,它以坚持时间最长、扶植新人传统悠久和对所在地区文化品位的影响力之强大,构成了一个十分抢眼的现象,我们姑且称之为“文艺周刊现象”。
