Australia has excellent basic science traditions and a creative biotechnology industry. In order to establish a huge and competitive business foundation, Australia has established partnerships with other countries and established strategic alliances with large multinational companies. Among the companies that have made major investments in Australian biotechnology are Amgen, Johnson & Johnson, Chiron, Hitachi Chemical of Japan, Numico of the Netherlands and Avax Technologies of the United States. The country has also established links with many trade organizations (including Team Canada, British Biotech means Business, American BIO, Biocom and Connect, etc.).
