1.战略激光系统的研究与发展目前美国和苏联在战略军备竞争中投资于激光技术的研究和发展费用都非常庞大,表1给出美国政府1985～1987财年的有关激光器的主要项目研究经费。由表中数据可以看出,美国政府用于激光技术的研究和发展费用1986年为17亿(美元,下同),而1987年的预算为27亿,增长59％。其中星球大战计划的费用明显增长,由1986年的10.7亿增加到1987年的20.7亿,约增长100％。
1. Research and Development of Strategic Laser Systems At present, the research and development costs of investing in laser technology in the strategic arms competition between the United States and the Soviet Union are enormous. Table 1 shows the main project research funding of the U.S. government for lasers from fiscal year 1985 to 1987 . As can be seen from the data in the table, the U.S. government’s research and development costs for laser technology were 1.7 billion U.S. dollars in 1986 (the same below), compared with 2.7 billion U.S. dollars in 1987, an increase of 59%. The cost of the Star Wars program increased significantly, from 1.07 billion in 1986 to 2.07 billion in 1987, an increase of about 100%.
