美丽富饶的太湖是我国第三大淡水湖。湖面辽阔,天水相际,碧波万顷,蔚为壮观。面积2420平方公里,湖中有大小岛屿48个。俗话说:“山无水不明,水无山不秀”。沿太湖四周低山丘陵绵延起伏,山岭海拔高度一般在100—300米,最高峯450米。太湖美,美在山水兼备,组成奇幻多姿的湖光山色。太湖不仅是我国著名的旅游胜地和淡水水产基地。太湖沿岸还蕴藏着丰富的矿产资源,其中尤以盛产太湖石闻名遐迩。
