我們不但要把一個政治上受壓迫經濟上受剝削的中國,變爲一個政治上自由經濟上繁榮的中國,而且要把一個被舊文化統治因而愚昧與落後的中國,變爲一個被新文化統治因而文明先進的中國。——毛澤東:新民主主義論一中國革命的偉大勝利,不僅對於保衛世界和平的鬥爭具有頭等重要意義,並且對於人類文化的發展也是一件極其重大的事情。試想一下,全世界四分之一的人口,將從愚昧與落後中解放出來,他們的智慧與創作力量將得到高度的發展的機會,並且投入於新世界和平民主的建設事業中間,這對於世界文明的創造與文化的進步,不是一件最堪重視的事情麽?
We must not only transform a politically oppressed and economically exploited China into a politically free and economically prosperous China but also transform a country that has been ignoranced and backwardly ruled by the old culture into a country ruled by the new culture Thus civilized advanced China. Imagine that a quarter of the world’s population will be liberated from ignorance and backwardness. Their wisdom and creative power will be highly developed, and they will be devoted to the construction of a peaceful and democratic New World. Civilization and cultural progress, is not one of the most valued things?
