油画从西方传来,经过几代艺术家的研究与创造,成为表述中国文化主题和表达中国思想观念的视觉载体,更成为表现中国画家文化情怀的语言,油画在中国的传播与广泛的社会接受也使油画拥有中国自身文化环境的支持。在全球文化交汇和交融的情境中,中国油画需要寻找自己发展的路向。近些年来,一大批油画家重视在文化精神层面弘扬传统、驻足本土、探索创造,体现了一种新的文化自觉。“写意油画”就是当代中国油画的一种新的学术现象,也体现了中国油画家新的文化选择。
