Angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) block the conversion of angiotensin I to a booster of angiotensin II. This convertase is also a kininase, which has the effect of clearing the vasodilator bradykinin. ACEI ACEI blocks angiotensin II production, leading to vasodilation. For hypertensive patients, the typical hemodynamic response, including the decline in circulatory vascular resistance and decreased circulatory aortic pressure. Circulatory vascular resistance and left ventricular filling pressure decreased in patients with congestive heart failure, cardiac output increased, while heart rate often no change or slightly slowed down. The effect of ACEI can be measured exogenously by angiotensin I inhibition of the step-up response, or determination of plasma renin and invertase activity, or renin
