坚黑穗病是严重影响我县大麦产量的病害,一旦发生,使用药剂防治,收效甚差。罹此病的大麦穗子,形成一包黑粉,直接影响产量,一般每亩损失32～80斤。种子消毒处理,是根治大麦坚黑穗病的有效办法,药剂处理种子有用黑矾、硫磺粉、福尔马林等多种方法,但购买药剂既花钱且有时市场上又不易买到,同时操作很麻烦,在推行当中群众不易接受。采用冷浸热处理大麦种子,简便易行,不花钱,效果好。1986年和1987年,我们在万福镇余家村点采取此办法防治坚黑穗病,取得了显著效果。
