读了白进文同志的对拙书的几点意见,获得许多教益,深表感谢。白同志认为拙书在材料处理方面,叙述过於简略,分析不够充分,这是对的。在拙书初版的前言中,我也曾声明过这点。因有这本书在一九四八年编写时,原是为了给当时的华北大学学员做讲义用的。当时华北大学的主要部分是四个月一期的短期政治训练班,学员在四个月中要学完四门主要课程,中国新民主主义革命史是其中的一门,为了照顾学员的阅读时间,所以这部讲义的字数在编写时是竭力压缩的。同时,由於学员多数具有大学的文化程度,且都有一定的政治觉悟,所以这部讲义在编写时文字简而提出问题较多。又由於它是校内的讲义,还有教员讲解,所以对有些问题的分析也没有在讲义中占篇幅。在为了适合这样的对象的情况下编出来的讲义,现在作为高中学生的暂用课本,这是发生白同志所指出的这种缺点的一方面的原因。一般说, I have read many commentary on Comrade Bai Jinwen’s companion books and received many lessons and gratitude.
