Plants need light nourishment. In order to get enough light, most plants grow strong, able to grow a large number of leaf stems. But these are hard to do for creeping and climbing plants. In poplar and climbing plants, self-support is replaced by the way they are climbing on nearby objects. Many creeping and climbing plants climb onto other plants, but some climb up rocks, fences and buildings in order to share sunlight with them. Such a lifestyle has a big advantage - creeks and climbers do not need strong stems, so they can use more energy for their own rapid growth. Poplar and climbing plants come from many different plant subdivisions, and they have developed a variety of ways to climb.
