广播电视大学是采用多种媒体进行远距离教育的开放性高等学校。这种多媒体、远距离、开放性充分体现了广播电视大学的教学特点和性质。而在多种教学媒体中,视听课是电大进行远距离教学的重要手段,是联系主讲教师和学生不可缺少的媒价,是学生获取知识信息的重要途径。这种教学手段的运用,充分发挥了电大远距离现代化教学的优势。电大在其产生与发展中,运用并且不断完善这种现代化教学手段进行教学,取得了显著成绩,全国数以万计的劳动者.以此获取了生产建设等方面的知识,成为社会主义建设、德智体全面发展的应用型专门人才,实践证明,发展电大现代化远距离教育是适合我国国情的。
