1、我为什么现在研究侯外庐?我主要从事春秋末、战国·秦汉时代的研究,近七、八年间,与两位年轻友人一同翻译侯外庐的《中国古代社会史论》。这本书多处引用了金文和甲骨文,对我来说是极难理解的,只能依据各种参考书,进行恶战苦斗。另外,听说这本书在其内容理解上,不光对我们外国人,即便是对现代的中国人,也是难度很大的。那么,我为什么要翻译这本既偏离我的专业领域,又很难解的书呢?下面,我想就这个问题作一些介绍。
1. Why do I study Houwailu now? I mainly engaged in the study of the Spring and Autumn Period, the Warring States Period and the Qin and Han Dynasties. In the recent seven or eight years, I translated Hou Wailu’s “History of Ancient Chinese Society” together with two young friends. Many references to the book Jinwen and Oracle, it is extremely difficult for me to understand, can only be based on a variety of reference books, hard-fought fighting. In addition, I heard that this book in its content understanding, not only for our foreigners, even for modern Chinese, is also very difficult. So why do I need to translate this very hard-to-understand book that deviates from my area of expertise? Now, I’d like to introduce some of this.
