《江阴东兴缪氏家集》系由缪氏族裔辑集的有关东兴缪氏祖训、传记、像赞、祠堂、艺文、杂志等文献。本文略考唐代家集起源、宋代家谱递嬗,明清家集之繁盛与演变,揭橥缪氏—族之忠烈史迹、科举盛事,以及《缪氏家集》中许多不为别集、总集所收的珍贵史料,以彰显此书在“家集”之形式和组织、汇聚一族文献上之独特面貌。其所收所存之制诰、家训、传记、诗文,不仅是一族一姓之文献,也是一地之乡邦文献,同时也是一朝一世总集之局部文献。
