1958年,Bill Gore和他的太太Vieve Gore在美国德拉瓦州Newark市自己家里的地下室成立了戈尔公司。从成立的那天起,戈尔公司就把“全球性技术创新”的伟大远景作为自己生存和发展的原动力。戈尔公司是从生产专业绝缘电线起家,采用PTFE作绝缘材料。PTFE是一种用途非常广泛、具有弹性的氟聚合物。1969年,Gore夫妇的儿子Bob Gore发现PTFE能够延展成一种高强度的多孔材料,他把这种材料注册为GORE-TEX。GORE-FEX膨体PTFE的化学性质十分稳定,可以在多种温度条件下发挥作用,不易老化、经久耐用。
In 1958, Bill Gore and his wife Vieve Gore founded Gore in the basement of their home in Newark, Delaware, USA. Since the day of its establishment, Gore has taken the great vision of “global technological innovation” as its driving force for survival and development. Gore started from producing professional insulated wires and used PTFE as insulating material. PTFE is a very versatile and resilient fluoropolymer. In 1969, Gore’s son, Bob Gore, discovered that PTFE could be extended into a high-strength porous material. He registered this material as GORE-TEX. GORE-FEX expanded PTFE is chemically stable and can function under a variety of temperature conditions. It is not susceptible to aging and durability.
