Objective To investigate the progress of scientific research and foreign affairs activities of the Parasitic Diseases Prevention and Control Institute of China Center for Disease Control and Prevention from 2002 to 2012 and to evaluate the relationship between international cooperation and academic influence at the individual level. Methods Based on the non-bibliometrics indicators such as the number and structure of scientific research personnel, research projects and funding, frequency of visits, etc., the progress of scientific research and foreign affairs activities in the Parasitic Diseases Prevention and Control Center of China CDC was evaluated. The bibliometrics, Indicators to evaluate the academic influence of senior researchers, using covariance analysis and generalized linear model to explore the relationship between international cooperation and academic influence of parasitological control research institutions. Results Since the establishment of the institute in 2002, the research projects and funding of the Parasitic Diseases Prevention and Control Center of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention have all increased. The growth rate after 2011 is particularly remarkable. Institution h2 index is 7. Covariance analysis and generalized linear model analysis showed that the number of international partners (F = 81.75, P <0.000 1), international cooperation projects (F = 22.81, P <0.000 1) 0) and degree (F = 3.80, P = 0.033 0) contributed significantly to the academic influence of individuals. However, the frequency of overseas study, job title and length of service had no significant correlation with h index (P> 0.05). Conclusion Increasing the application of international cooperation projects and developing long-term and stable international partnerships can enhance the international academic influence of institutions and individuals in the field of parasitic diseases.
