1985年1月12日,夏衍同志带领沈宁和我去北京医院探望冰心和周扬两位前辈。行前,夏衍同志对我们说:“我们先去冰心房间,然后你们两个上去看周扬,我不上去了,在楼下冰心房间等你们。我怕周扬看到我激动。沈宁向苏灵扬说明一下。”大家都知道周扬同志在粉碎“四人帮”之后,特别是近几年来,越来越容易激动。另方面,就夏衍同志来说,见到病重的老友,也一定会动感情。这对两位老人的情绪和健康都没有好处。因此,沈宁和我都赞成这样安排。
