A study released by the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) on April 13, 2011 shows that outdoor rolling ponds located on the Gulf Coast, southeastern coast and Great Lakes produce oil from microalgae that is expected to replace the US for transportation 17% of the oil imports.
