Our country spent another year of reform and opening up in “economic development, political stability, national unity and social progress.” That year, the Party Central Committee held the Third Plenary Session of the 14th CPC Central Committee and made the “Decision of the CPC Central Committee on Several Issues Concerning the Establishment of a Socialist Market Economic System,” pointing out the direction for speeding up the reform and opening up as well as the pace of socialist modernization. The publication and publication of the third volume of “Selected Works of Deng Xiaoping” provided a powerful ideological and theoretical weapon for building socialism with Chinese characteristics.
