Objective To investigate the correlation between hs-CRP and severity of coronary lesions in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Methods Fifty patients with ACS were enrolled in the study. Coronary angiography (CAG) and hs-CRP were performed. Another 20 healthy volunteers were selected as control group. The levels of hs-CRP in different groups were compared. The differences of hs-CRP in different degree of coronary artery stenosis and the number of diseased vessels were analyzed and their correlations were analyzed. Results The severity of coronary artery stenosis in observation group was mild in 13 cases, moderate in 22 cases and severe in 15 cases. The levels of hs-CRP were (32.17 ± 11.08), (46.32 ± 14.26) and (57.38 ± 16.32) mg / L The level of hs-CRP in the control group was (8.16 ± 2.31) mg / L, with significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). The higher the degree of stenosis, the higher the level of hs-CRP, the two were positively correlated (r = 0.614, P <0.05). The number of coronary stenosis in observation group was 14 cases with single branch, 23 cases with double branch and 13 cases with three branches. The levels of hs-CRP in observation group were (27.82 ± 11.02), (47.09 ± 14.38) and (58.64 ± 17.12) mg / L, while the level of hs-CRP in the control group was (8.16 ± 2.31) mg / L, with significant difference between the two groups (P <0.05). The more narrow stenosis, the higher the hs-CRP level, the two were positively correlated (r = 0.667, P <0.05). Conclusion The serum hs-CRP level in ACS patients is positively correlated with the severity of coronary artery disease.
