校训是学校的灵魂和旗帜。它集中地体现了教育的理念、培养目标和办学的追求。它应该成为凝聚全校师生的精神力量。天津中学成立伊始,我时刻注意搜集各地的校训,环顾各校校训,立意深刻、语言精辟的很多,但千篇一律的也不少,如求实创新、开拓进取之类。应该说,这样的校训,在开始提出的时候,有着深刻的内涵,且极具时代特点,可惜后来比比皆是,本身也失去了创新的意味。能否提出一个与众不同的校训,成了我苦苦思索的问题。这期间,当我看到了高密一中的校训“为四十岁做准备”时,立刻感到豁然开朗。这朴实简明的语言、深刻的内涵、鲜明的时代气息,不正是我所要寻找的吗?我也曾就此立意探讨过,但总未找到满意的表达。于是对高密的同行感到由衷的钦佩。受此启发,略加改动,天津中学的校训——“为成功的人生做准备”诞生了,并由此对拟定校训有了一些粗浅 The motto is the soul and banner of the school. During this period, when I saw the schoolmaster of Gaomi’s first middle school “to prepare for the age of forty,” I immediately felt suddenly enlightened. Is this simple and concise language, profound connotation, and distinctive atmosphere of the times, not exactly what I am looking for? I have deliberately explored this, but I have not found a satisfactory expression. So he felt sincerely admired the colleagues of high density. Inspired by this, with a slight change, the school motto of Tianjin Middle School - “Preparing for a successful life” was born, and this gave some superficiality to the proposed motto.
