无毒基因是病原物中决定对带有相应抗病基因的寄主植物特异的不亲和无毒性基因。无毒基因不仅决定了对寄主植物不同品种的无毒性,也决定了对不同植物或非寄主植物的无毒性。已经克隆的无毒基因都是单一的显性基因,编码独特的蛋白质产物。无毒基因编码的直接或间接产物与抗病基因编码的直接或间接产物相互识别诱导植物的过敏性坏死反应及其它的寄主抗性反应。
