《汉宫秋》中的王昭君虽着墨不多,却是一个至关重要且实实在在的悲剧人物。昭君之悲在于作为一个女人的不能自主、因为绝世容貌而被乱臣贼子欺压、被昏君强权撕扯的女性之悲。而昭君却能够深明大义,在外族强权的威逼之下、满朝文武不作为之时,毅然和番平息刀兵,可见其民族气节;至番汉交界纵身投江亦可见其女性意识的觉醒,以最彻底的方式与男权世界决绝,真正实现了对男权挤压的悲剧性超越。
