传畧王鹏运字幼霞,一字佑霞,中年号半塘老人,晚号半僧,鹜翁,半塘僧鹜。广西临桂人。原籍山阴(今浙江绍兴)。父必达,字质夫,学者称遐轩先生。道光二十三年(一八四三)举人,曾佐曾国藩幕府,历任江西知府数年,升调甘肃安肃道,改广东惠潮嘉兵备道,赴任途中病卒。兄维翰,字仲培,同治十三年(一八七四)进士,官至河南中州粮盐道。弟辛峰,官两淮盐务,能词,早卒。鹏运,道光二十九年(一八四九)十一月十九日生於广西临桂盐道街燕怀堂。少有才名,人称‘乌衣巷佳子弟’。同治九年(一八七○)本省乡
