日军侵华期间,不少名人志士看到祖国大好河山沦陷于日寇铁蹄下,不禁怒火燃腔,采用不同表达方式宣传抗日,支持抗日。他们爱国的轶闻趣事至今脍炙人口。1931年“九·一八”事变后,曾任南京市长的马相伯先生积极参加抗日救亡活动,他对蒋介石消极抗日十分不满。有一年蒋介石寿诞,蒋的一个幕僚得知马相伯书法很好,就向他求个“寿”字送蒋。
