最近我应邀担任了北京人艺和中国儿艺联合排演的喜剧组合小品《变形的面庞》的艺术指导,参与这一活动,颇有一番感触。因地制宜,应时而变,这大概是万物生存和发展的奥秘所在吧。清人阮元“深处种菱浅种稻,不深不浅种荷花”的诗句不仅道出了江南水乡的风光秀美,也显示了水乡农民的聪明智慧。由此而想到话剧的振兴之路,何尝不该如此呢? 从春柳社演出《黑奴吁天录》,使话剧在我国成为新兴的戏剧品种、独立的舞台艺术形式算起,我国的话剧运动已有整整80年的历史了。这80年的风雨血火铸成了我国话剧的优良传统。当然,在曲折迂回的道路上,也有不少令人深思的经验教训。归结起来,话剧的兴盛,就在于它“只有表达整个民族和整个时代的生存方式,才能在自己的周围招致整个时代和整个民族的共同感情”(泰纳,《西方文论选》下卷241页)。亦即艺术须植根于时代和民族。这是每个振兴
