现在的时代,是科学技术大发展的时代。相对和平的国际环境为科学技术的发展提供了良好的条件,而科学技术的发展又为发展生产力、提高人们的生活水平创立了良好的基础。实际上,在自然科学领域、在物质生产方面的发展,都离不开科学技术的发展,甚至后者的发展是前者发展的必不可少的前提。就是精神享受方面,有很多也是与科技的发展息息相关的。江泽民总书记在国家科学技术奖励大会上讲到:全球面临的资源、环境、生态、人口等重大问题的解决,都离不开科学技术的进步。

General Secretary Jiang Zemin said at the National Science and Technology Awards Conference that the solution to the major problems such as resources, environment, ecology and population that the world faces can not be separated from the progress of science and technology.
