随着新课程改革的逐步深入,培养学生英语自学能力越来越成为素质教育的重要内容。什么是英语自学能力呢?是指学生有目的、有计划、有步骤,主动地学习英语知识,培养语言技能,提高综合运用英语的能力。在教学中常遇到这样的情况:学生学了两三年英语,课堂上还得教师领读单词、句子、课文,还需教师逐句分析、翻译。部分学生语法条条款款背得滚瓜烂熟,但说或写时就错误百出。还有许多学生课本学得不错,一离开课本,阅读程度相当的课外读物就困难重重。产生这些现象的主要原因,归根结底就是没有培养好英语自学能力。一切能力均来自于实践。教师不能仅仅成为英语知识的传授者,更重要的是要成为学生英语自学能力的培养者。

The main reason for these phenomena, in the final analysis is not cultivating good English self-learning ability. All abilities come from practice.
