June 26-29, 1989 An international conference on engineering geology in the tropics was held in Bangui, Selangor, Malaysia. Organizer: Department of Geology, Kebangsaran University, Malaysia. Theme of the conference: 1. Survey, characteristics and classification of earth and rock in the tropics; 2. Engineering geological features and engineering geological mapping in the tropics; 3. Method of site investigation in the tropics; 4. Landslides and slope stability in the tropics; Geophysical Methods and Remote Sensing Applications in Engineering Geological Survey; 6. Typical Examples of Foundation and Improved Foundations for Buildings in Dams, Tunnels, Roads, Airports, Seaports, etc. in the Tropical Regions; 7. Urban Geology and Environmental Geology.
