《金丹大要》精气神篇中白云真人说:生命不外“精气神”,是以三物相感,顺则成人,逆则成仙。道德经说:道生一,一生二,二生三,三生万物,万物负阴而抱阳,冲气以为和。这个过程之谓顺。顺是自然万物由发生、发展到死亡按着自然规律演化的过程;逆则是万物含三,三归二,二归一的返还过程。在人体修炼过程中则表现为由无到有、由自然到自觉、由身体有病到健康长寿这样一个过程。
