The ultimate goal of learning English lies in the proper and effective use of language, that is, to improve learners’ communicative competence, while pragmatic competence is an important part of communicative competence. Therefore, the cultivation and improvement of pragmatic competence has become the core issue of language learning. The research shows that our students’ English pragmatic competence lags behind that of language ability obviously. This is not unrelated to the teaching concept and teaching mode of English teaching in our country. From the perspective of pragmatics, this paper puts forward the content of pragmatic competence and the cultivation of pragmatic competence Some opinions, in order to inspire English teaching and learning. So, how to cultivate students’ pragmatic competence? After many times of domestic scholars’ pragmatic competence test and analysis, students’ pragmatic competence in English lags behind language ability obviously. Students with poor pragmatic competence and us
