仅就打牌技艺而论,防守的难度无疑要高于做庄。虽然在首攻之后,每位牌手都能看到全部52张牌中的26张(自己的牌与明手的牌),但是庄家却在两方面占有优势:首先,做庄是由定约人一人来完成的,而防守却需要与同伴之间的默契配合;其次,庄家对他们一方的牌力强弱与牌张配置有着完全清楚的了解,而防守者却无法确切地知道其同伴的牌情,对此,他只能依靠自己的计算推理能力、乃至丰富的想象加以弥补。所以,出色的防守要比做庄更能体现出牌手的打牌水平。
