1983年,笔者尚在东海大学美术系求学期间,经由复合媒材的课程中学习将非金属素材如砂纸、木头、自然树枝、皮与压克力等等与金属一起纳入作品的创作,体验出复合材质的运用与材质作为创作语汇的多种可能性,引起我对金属材质的注意,并在1 987年的毕业制作选择了工艺设计,分别以印染作品与金属饰品制作取得学士学位。在当时,台湾金工学习须透过家传或师徒制的管道,而学院教育中并无完整的金工课程,所以大部分金工制作的技巧如焊
