常熟市是县级市,地处江苏南部,全市共有102万人口,104万亩耕地。该市供销社系统有10个公司,3个轧花厂,1个常庆联营厂,1个职工中专,33个基层供销社,共有干部职工8000多名。1983年以来供销社围绕“官办”改“民办”,全民改集体这个核心,进行了一系列改革,发动农民入股,恢复了“三性”,改善了同农民的关系;推行经营承包,扩大企业自主权,完善了经营机制;建立服务体系,健全服务网络,增强了经营服务功能;市联社加快了企业化进程,退出了政府序列,进行了工商登记。从而推进了供销社事业的发展。
