根据我国能源结构现状,河南省煤炭丰富的特点。武汉钢铁设计研究院和河南省某钢厂合作在该厂型材车间350×5轧机后新建一座燃煤链式炉排加热炉。该加热炉还采用了半无水冷滑轨及耐火纤维炉墙等先进措施,经双方工程技术人员紧密配合,精心设计和施工,于81年8月14日点火烘炉,8月22日正式开车试轧。近三个月来运行正常,满足了该车间轧机对加热炉的要求,特别是链式炉排运行可靠,为中小型轧钢加热炉实现烧煤及除渣机械化,又摸索出一条新路。
